Tailscale + Mobile Remote

Use Tailscale Private Access to operate KingCoding on your Mac from your phone or another PC.

Overview

Tailscale is a VPN-style mesh. KingCoding uses Tailscale Serve so the app is not exposed to the public internet and can be opened only from devices in the same tailnet. Check status, send follow-ups, or kick off new tasks while you're out.

Setup Steps

  • Install Tailscale on your Mac and sign in
  • Install Tailscale on your phone or another PC and sign in with the same account
  • Confirm Tailscale is connected on both the Mac and the device you will use
  • Open KingCoding → Settings → Connection & Access → Tailscale Private Access → Start
  • Open the shown URL or scan the QR code from the device you will use

If It Does Not Connect

  • Confirm Tailscale is ON on both the Mac and the device you will use
  • Confirm both devices are signed in to the same Tailscale account or tailnet
  • Confirm the Mac is not asleep
  • If Tailscale shows a permission page on first setup, follow it to allow access

Mobile-Specific UI

On a phone, KingCoding switches to a mobile-tuned layout. Task list, replies to running tasks, new task creation, and joining King mode chats — the essentials are all there.

Avoiding Mac Sleep

If the Mac sleeps, Tailscale drops and the phone can't reach it. Recommended setting:

  • System Settings → Battery → Power Adapter
  • Enable "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off"

Security

  • Access is limited to your tailnet
  • The app URL is not exposed to the public internet
  • Tailscale URLs and QR codes do not include the KingCoding auth token
