FAQ

Answers to the questions that come up most often.

General

Q. What do I need to install to get started?

KingCoding itself is a standalone Mac app. To actually run AI tasks, install Claude Code or Codex CLI. Install both and you can switch per task.

Q. Which Macs are supported?

Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Intel builds may be available separately.

Q. Can I work across multiple projects?

Yes — register many and switch via the sidebar. Tasks, history, and memos are scoped per project.

Q. How many tasks can I run at once?

Multi-agent execution supports parallel tasks. Tune the count to your machine's headroom.

License & Plan

Q. Where do I activate my license?

Settings → License inside the app.

Q. What if I get a new Mac?

Activate the same key on the new machine. Tasks and memos don't migrate automatically — export from the old Mac if you need them.

Q. Can I use it on multiple Macs?

One license covers one Mac. Move it to the new Mac when you upgrade.

Q. What do I get during the trial?

Full feature parity with a paid license. After expiry, without activation, the app drops into read-only mode for existing data.

Q. Refunds?

Generally not offered for digital products, except in case of serious defects. The trial is the way to verify fit.

Updates & Data

Q. How do updates work?

Auto-update notifies you in-app. Restart when prompted.

Q. Where is data stored?

Tasks, logs, and memos live in a local SQLite database. Nothing leaves your machine apart from license verification.

Remote & Mobile

Q. Remote stops working while I'm out

When the Mac sleeps, Tailscale drops. Enable System Settings → Battery → Power Adapter → "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off". The Mac stays awake while the screen sleeps, so remote keeps working.
